About Me
Xenia
10% Warrior, 90% Princess
My name is Xenia, and when I’m not puttering around in the kitchen, I’m puttering around in my home office, and if I’m not puttering around there, I don’t know. Maybe check the laundry room?
I started this blog when we moved our family from my hometown of Boulder, Colorado, to a small fishing community in Alaska for a couple of years. In the months leading up to the big move, friends and family led an enthusiastic campaign encouraging me to start a blog so they could follow along on our adventures. And so I did.
“Did you read any of my posts?” I asked my friend who had led the charge.
“No but I have totally been meaning to sit down and read them,” she said, “but, you know how it goes.”
Yes. I do know.
I asked my brother if he was reading my blog.
“I am,” he said, “but only because you’re my sister. In general I don’t get the point of blogging.”
My brother is so cute. I didn’t have the heart to inform him that, “not having a point” is the new “having a point.”
I will say the point behind the name “Poking the Bear” was about the act of leaving a pleasant status quo to move to a place like Alaska. Now that I’m back in my hometown, I’m keeping the title because aside from being born lazy, I have decided writing and posting what you write is an adventure in itself.
One that always feels like a fun, and unwise risk.
